The Project for the Prevention and Control of Exotic Species (PPCEX) aims to develop various different strategies for action to prevent or at least minimize the possibility of infestation or transporting of invasive exotic species, notably the orange cup coral, by the maritime units involved in our operations.

Shipping is the principal means for the spreading of invasive exotic species. Such organisms can be transported within the water itself and/or in sediments contained in ballast tanks, by biological encrustation or associated with submerged external surfaces.
