Museu da Vida

A place for new discoveries

por Técnico Enauta

Within the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), in Rio de Janeiro, the Museum of Life is a place for integration between science, culture and education, which seeks to inform and educate about health and technology in a way that is both fun and creative. It has become one of the most visited cultural facilities in Rio de Janeiro, especially attracting students and teachers, who find a free program that is always provocative.

Its geographic location, in one of the areas with the lowest HDI in Latin America (0.726), confers an important role in inclusion and local development, particularly in Rio’s northern zone. In the last year alone, more than 1,800,000 students were benefitted by the museum’s activities, representing an historical and encouraging achievement in the process of cultural, social and scientific inclusion within the city.

In addition to the Museum of Life, our support includes the efforts of In vivo, a place for interactive open education. It is a digital ecosystem that provides a variety of solutions for storing, making available and guaranteeing access – especially for students and teachers – to educational resources about health, science and technology, enabling understanding of the scientific procedures and progress and their effects on everyday life.

The platform is also intended to generate qualitative and quantitative reports to assist in drawing up public educational policies. This year alone we had more than 1.4 million accesses.
