We are contributing to real understanding of the role of Rio de Janeiro’s mangrove forests in the process of mitigating global warming, considering that these environments have the world’s greatest potential for carbon accumulation. The aim of the project is to fine tune the estimates of carbon sequestration and storage by these forest systems, thereby helping to improve the Brazilian Inventory of Anthropogenic Emissions and Removals of Greenhouse Gases.
