Enauta, one of the leading independent oil and gas exploration and production companies, reports a new oil discovery in the reservoir known as the Atlanta NE accumulation, within the Atlanta field, where the company is working on implementation of the Definitive System (DS) of production.
The new accumulation was identified through the drilling and assessment of pilot well 9-ATL-8DP, which reached a final depth of 2,644 meters. Based on the data obtained, the oil was confirmed to occur in a shallower reservoir, of 57 meters, than that already under development in the Atlanta field, and has excellent petrophysical properties.
This oil finding in Atlanta NE was originally indicated by well 9-SHEL-19D-RJS, drilled back in 2006. This new well was drilled with the objective of collecting additional data on this oil accumulation, along with with the drilling of the development well 7-ATL-7HA-RJS – which is one of the six production wells of phase 1 of the field’s Definitive System (DS) of production.
Enauta estimates that the in place resources exceed 230 million barrels of oil. Additional studies will be carried out to determine the technical-economic potential and for integration of this new accumulation into the development of the Atlanta field DS.
Furthermore, the necessary studies will be carried out to determine its certified reserves and their inclusion in the total reserves of the Atlanta field, which currently has a total of 158.9 million barrels of oil (2P Reserve), according to the certification dated December 31, 2022, by Gaffney, Cline and Associates.
At the beginning of 2022, Enauta began the implementation of Phase 1 of the Atanta field SD, with the capacity to produce up to 50,000 barrels of oil per day, using six wells that will be connected to the FPSO Atlanta.
The operational start-up and first oil under the Definitive System (DS) is expected in mid-2024.
