Enauta successfully finished the drilling and completion of well #7 (“7-ATL-7HA-RJS”), the last of the six wells in Phase 1 of the development of the Atlanta field, in the Santos Basin. The work was carried out within the expected time and budget.
Enauta COO Carlos Mastrangelo emphasizes that, “The conclusion of this first campaign in the Atlanta field was very important for the project. It means a significant reduction in the risks inherent to well drilling activities. We now have all the wells ready to be connected to the new FPSO, which will have a production capacity of 50,000 barrels per day. I would go further and say that it also confirms our ability to deliver and the soundness of the project. We hope to go into production inside the approved budget and prior to the deadline set in the FID (Final Investment Decision)”.
Well #7 finalizes the drilling campaign that began at the end of last year, using the Alpha Star rig. During this period, Enauta installed three production wells and a pilot well, which enabled confirmation of a new oil accumulation at Atlanta NE. With the addition of these wells, nearly 15,000 meters were drilled during the course of the campaign. Enauta also innovated by building two wells simultaneously, thereby optimizing time and resources whilst minimizing waste generation.
Phase 1 of the Atlanta field development, using the new FPSO Atlanta, is scheduled to enter production in mid-2024 and involves the investment of US$ 1.2 billion. The platform is being refitted in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
