Enauta – one of the leading independent oil and gas exploration and production companies in Brazil – officially christened the FPSO Atlanta, in a ceremony held this Wednesday (13th), in Dubai, where the ship is being refitted. Important equipment is being manufactured in Brazil and will be installed when the FPSO arrives on site.
The vessel’s christening ceremony was attended by Enauta’s CEO, Décio Oddone, COO, Carlos Mastrangelo, and CFO, Pedro Medeiros. As well as those executives, the base manager and godmother of the FPSO Atlanta, Maria Eduarda Pessoa, was present, together with other management figures from Enauta, Yinson Production and the DryDocks World shipyard.
The FPSO Atlanta will operate in the field of the same name, located in the Santos Basin, and has the capacity to produce up to 50,000 barrels of oil per day and to store up to 1.6 million barrels. The FPSO will have an efficient carbon management process, which will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Enauta CEO Décio Oddone says that, “The refitting of the FPSO is an important milestone for Enauta. The Definitive System (DS) positions Enauta as a pioneer, among independent companies, in carrying out a deep-water project from phase zero. The FPSO Atlanta has a number of engineering solutions and innovations that reduce the intensity of emissions. The project demonstrates how the oil and gas sector can act positively within its operational limits, with responsibility, safety and efficiency”.
Enauta and Yinson Production signed the agreement to build the ship in 2021. In July this year, Yinson Production exercised its option to purchase the FPSO Atlanta. Exercising the option initiated the validity of the 15-year chartering, operation and maintenance contract, which can be extended for an additional five years. The contract represents a total value of US$ 2 billion over 20 years, from the platform’s production start-up.
